Instructor: Mr. Plucknette
I have worked at Kilby for 3 years now.  Prior to teaching at Kilby I was busy working to fulfill the educational requirements to become a teacher.  My degree is in Sociology/ Criminal Justice from Niagara University. I have a Masters in Early Childhood/Childhood Education from Niagara University.

The thing that I like most about working at Kilby is working with such a diverse and exciting population of students helping them recognize there potential.

In the future I plan to ready young students for 6th grade by holding them accountable for their individual school performance, and placing a large emphasis on reading.

Classroom Policies
Homework Policy:
Students who do not complete work in class will place their work in a Fix-n-Finish File to complete during transitional time during the week. If a student does not complete work during the week, he/she will be asked to complete the work over the weekend. All homework is due the following day, unless otherwise indicated. Not all students will have written homework daily, but will be asked to read on a nightly basis for 30 minutes. A daily folder will be sent home to serve as an organizational tool.

Agenda:
Students will be provided with an agenda and are responsible for maintaining and keeping it in excellent condition. Every morning, students are expected to write the daily assignments and important notices in their agenda. At the end of the day, time will be set aside to decide what work must be completed at home. Agendas need to be brought home daily and require a parent signature each evening. Please ask your child daily about the agenda and discuss what activities were completed in class.  Every night students will be required to read a minimum of 30 minutes in a book.

Tests/Quizzes:
Students, as well as parents, will be aware of tests far in advance. I indicate tests in newsletters and on the daily agenda. Students do receive a study guide for upcoming tests/quizzes. We will complete a fair amount of review prior to a test/quiz. Tests earning a C, D, or F will have a “Please Sign and Return” stamp and students will be required to return with a parent/guardian signature.

Newsletters:
You will be receiving a grade-level newsletter on a monthly basis. These newsletters will keep you informed on events happening in the classroom, as well as school. Please be on the lookout for our monthly newsletter.
